It all started with Our Lady, Our Lady's Farm, Gail Boos and Medjugorje. A carload of ladies from Northwest Ohio went to visit “Our Lady's Farm” in Falmouth, KY in the summer of 2017.
Jerry McLafferty, the caretaker of Our Lady's Farm, shared the story of Our Lady's Farm with us and also spoke to us about Our Lady. Jerry asked us, “if you could go to the place where Our Lady is appearing daily, would you go?” Then he asked, “Have any of you been to Medjugorje? If not, you need to go on a pilgrimage there because Our Lady is appearing every day”. Jerry added, “But you want to go with Gail Boos’ pilgrimage group.” Jerry also made the comment, “When Our Lady asks you to go to Medjugorje, you don’t want to be the one to tell her no.”
We prayed a rosary at Our Lady's grotto before leaving “Our Lady's Farm.” On the drive home we called Gail Boos to see if we could join her October 2017 pilgrimage to Medjugorje….and we did. Our hearts were touched forever after returning from our Medjugorje pilgrimage(s). Each pilgrimage would bring more pilgrims from our area. Our Lady and Her Son touched more hearts.
The people in Medjugorje are not financially rich; not into commercialism, but instead, very prayerful, respectful of the religious, attend daily mass, attend eucharistic adoration several times a week, just happy, peaceful people. While we were in Medjugorje our hearts and eyes were opened. We wanted to live the humble Medjugorje life. We saw so many holy priests and religious. We heard many conversion stories. We saw people standing in long lines to go to confession. We watched the miracle of the sun spinning. We walked the fields to Apparition Hill (where Our Lady appeared to the 6 children) and Cross Moutain. We delivered food and wood to the very poor in the hills of Medjugorje. We filled bags with personal necessities for the elderly in a nursing home.
We saw priests change ~ from quiet and reserved to radiating and sharing the love of Jesus. You could see, those priests see Jesus in the Eucharist. We saw and heard about many miracles. We witnessed broken hearted pilgrims on arrival to ending their trip as a new child of Christ. Medjugorje will change you forever…. So accept Our Lady's invitation to go on a pilgrimage to Medjugorje if you can.
After returning from the 2018 Medjugorje trip several ladies from Northwest Ohio (Putnam County) decided we need to do as Our Lady asked – start a prayer group, so we did. Our prayer group meets every morning by phone and we pray for just over an hour.
We also discussed starting a non-profit organization. We wanted the non-profit organization to help:
#1) to help those less fortunate in Medjugorje that helped change our hearts forever
#2) send priests and seminarians to Medjugorje to have their hearts forever touched
While all this takes time to organize, we are finally completing what we envisioned. And so this is how the non-profit “Our Lady's Children” came to be.
